PRESERVING HERITAGE, RESPECTING NATURE, UPLIFTING COMMUNITY
At Fort Tiracol, sustainability isn’t a checklist—it’s a way of life. From the kitchen to the coastline, every choice we make is guided by respect for nature, care for the community, and a deep commitment to protecting Goa’s rich cultural and ecological legacy.
SUSTAINABLE SEAS
As proud supporters of the Know Your Fish initiative, we help our guests make responsible seafood choices. This science-backed programme encourages the consumption of sustainable seafood along India’s west coast. Our menus are aligned with seasonal, eco-conscious sourcing that protects marine life while celebrating Goan flavours.
ECO PRACTICES
Our commitment to sustainable practices in Goa is visible in the little things we do every day. We recycle a wide range of materials, including paper, glass, cardboard, printer cartridges, and even batteries, to reduce waste. Throughout the property, energy-saving bulbs are used, and lights are turned off when not in use. Our team receives regular training on eco-friendly operations, ensuring that sustainability is second nature across departments. Guests are also encouraged to participate by reusing towels, reducing the impact of daily laundry on water and energy resources.
CONSCIOUS WATER AND ENERGY USE
Water conservation is a priority across the property, with systems in place to minimise usage without compromising guest comfort. In our rooms, you won’t find refrigerators—not by omission, but by intention. This conscious decision significantly cuts down on energy use. Even our renovation practices follow the same philosophy, using locally sourced materials and labour to reduce the environmental cost of transportation and support the local economy.
LOCAL FIRST: SOURCING AND SUSTAINING
Sustainability is closely tied to our support for local culture and economy. Our ingredients are sourced from nearby farmers and markets, keeping our menus seasonal, fresh, and rooted in the flavours of Goa. The Tavern, our restaurant, reflects this ethos in every dish. Whether we’re hosting intimate ceremonies or lively celebrations, we actively involve the local community, creating events that are both meaningful and mindful.
GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITY
We believe that preserving the beauty of this region also means uplifting those who live within it. That’s why we regularly support local charities, and why our team members are encouraged to take part in environmental, cultural, and social initiatives. This collaborative spirit helps us remain closely connected to the people and heritage of North Goa.
